Funding available for food, shelter programs

From staff reports

Venango County has been awarded nearly $90,000 that can be distributed to agencies and organizations that provide food and shelter programs.

A portion of the money — $21,870 — was provided under the national Emergency Food and Shelter Program through the Department of Homeland Security.

The rest of the funds — $67,594 — were awarded to the county through the American Rescue Plan.

The total amount received by the county is $89,464.

Will Price, executive director of the United Way of Venango County, is the facilitator of the local board of EFSP, which will distribute the funds.

Local agencies that meet eligibility requirements can apply for the funding at www.unitedwayofvenangocounty.org.

Grants will be open through April 10, Price said.
