An additional $2,760 has been raised for this year’s Friends for Food campaign, bringing the total to $5,575. This annual fundraiser, a collaboration between Community Services of Venango County and The Derrick/The News-Herald, helps provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Donations go toward purchasing turkeys and other food items, with last year’s effort distributing 1,100 bags of food. This year’s distribution will occur on November 23 at the Rocky Grove fire hall. Donors can contribute via coupons in the newspaper or through the Friends for Food link on The Derrick’s website.
