Franklin’s 34th annual Applefest

The 34th annual Applefest will be held Friday through Sunday, Oct. 7-9, in Franklin.  The event is hosted by the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce.  It features more than 300 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, live entertainment, historic district tours, the 5K Race for Any Pace, an antique and classic car cruise, eating contests and more.  The craft and food vendors will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.  Ongoing events include the Venango County Historical Society’s book fair, the Franklin Public Library’s used book sale, Boy Scout Troop 28’s face painting activity; a coloring station at Apple Jackie Headquarters, the farmer’s market and more.  Friday’s events include a breakfast from 5 a.m. to noon and Victorian Residential Architecture Walking Tours at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Performances from Max Schang, Deanna Wolfgong, the B and E Combo, HOLeY Jeans, Magic Steve, FHS Madrigal, Tyler Cason, Old Guys with Guitars, the Venango Brigade and Dead Level are also slated for Friday.  Saturday’s events include a breakfast at 8 a.m., the Applefest 5K Race for Any Pace at 10 a.m., the Growing Through Challenges obstacle course, a fly-in at the Venango Regional Airport, Brandon’s Dad, walking tours and more.  Entertainment on Saturday will be provided by the Franklin Silver Cornet Band, Mostly Brass, Carolyn Longo, The Franklin High School marching band, Average Joe, Studio 22 Dancers, CareyOn and more.  Sunday’s events include Praise in the Park will be held at 8 a.m. and the antique and classic car cruise from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  There will be tours DeBence Antique Music World and the Tiffany Windows.  The Duck Race will be held at 2 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Front Porch Folk, Samantha Sears, Mitch Litter, Uncharted Course, Max Schang and the Hunter Cook Band.
