A Franklin woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 79 in Vernon Township, Crawford County.
Meadville state police said in a press release that Bonnie Pfendler, 76, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Crawford County coroner Scott Schell. She was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the accident, police said.
Norman Pfendler, 76, of Franklin, was driving south on I-79 at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday when he failed to negotiate a right turn on the exit ramp of the eastbound exit 147, police said.
The vehicle left the ramp and crashed into a concrete barrier, then became airborne and landed on the exit ramp, police said.
Norman Pfendler was transported to Meadville Medical Center by Meadville Area Ambulance to be treated for injuries of unknown severity, police said.
