Franklin woman celebrates 100th birthday

Frances “Erla” Craig-Ferringer celebrates her 100th birthday today, marking a century rich in family, resilience, and cherished memories. Born on November 14, 1924, in Murrinsville, Butler County, Erla grew up during the Great Depression, where her family lived simply off the land, with a generator-powered home before electricity became available. She graduated from Grove City High School in 1944 and worked locally until marrying Robert Leroy Ferringer in 1948. Together, they raised five children and enjoyed a growing family that now includes nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Erla, who retired as a Residential Service Aide in 1987, has remained in her home for over 70 years, maintaining her independence and love for life’s simple pleasures, like sweets, Country music, and Pittsburgh Pirates games.
