The Franklin General Authority has secured $22 million in funding from PENNVEST for the initial phase of a significant wastewater project in Franklin. This project, receiving $16.72 million in grants and $5.28 million in low-interest loans, aims to rehabilitate 55,000 feet of the existing system and separate combined sewers to reduce overflow into French Creek. If successful, further phases may not be needed. Additionally, the authority discussed the aging wastewater treatment plant, which faces issues like clogging from disposable wipes. While solutions and replacements are being considered, no decisions were made at the meeting. Other approvals included payments for ongoing projects, agreements for equipment storage, participation in a feasibility study, and litigation related to PFAS chemicals. Future meetings will temporarily relocate due to upcoming HVAC work at City Hall.
