Franklin trying to fill vacancies on some city panels

The city of Franklin is working to fill several vacancies on important boards and commissions, including the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Historical and Architectural Review Board, and the Redevelopment Authority. Mayor Doug Baker expressed a preference for appointing new people rather than those already serving on other boards. Council members also discussed various community matters, including a collapsed drain causing a sinkhole, the impact of the upcoming Liberty Street Betterment Project on local businesses, and concerns about noise near the boat launch. The council is promoting community engagement through initiatives like the Community Heart and Soul program, local business support during Applefest, and events such as a back-to-school giveaway and the Community Conversations series. Additionally, the city has taken ownership of a neglected property through eminent domain and is preparing for several local events, including parades and holiday celebrations.
