Franklin team takes second at robotics tourney

Franklin Junior/Senior High School’s VEX robotics team brought home a second-place finish at the third annual VEX Robotics competition held Friday at North Allegheny High School in Wexford.

Out of Franklin’s three teams that competed, 814F made it through the semifinals and placed second at the tournament.

The 814F team consists of Sam Burchfield, David Ferraro, Adam Taylor, Tyler Walkowski and Trevor Wood.

Other students who competed Friday were 814K members Martin Bastecki, Karl Kestner, Garrett Kingdom and Doug Songer, and 814H members Christopher Bullard, Kiaran Rios, William Robinson and Tyler Wood.

Both 814F and 814K teams qualified for the Western Pennsylvania VRC state championship to be held March 10 at Keystone Oaks High School in Pittsburgh.
