After months of preparation, Franklin middle and senior high school art students are well into the painting portion of their mural project.
Sophomores Rilee Hanna and Estella Adams were working on their third panel during teacher Darrellyn Freeman’s Art Club class session on Tuesday.
“It feels like a relief,” Adams said about being this far along in the process.
“Once we got past that, it’s been pretty easy,” Adams said.
Adams also said visiting the Venango County Historical Society two months ago was exciting, but “we’re going over to Sandycreek to help the (younger kids) paint, so that will be fun.”
Seventh-grader Sophia Beach started painting the mural Monday and is working on her first panel.
“(Painting the mural) has been easy for some kids, but hard for others. It depends on the color they’re working with and the type of brush they’re using,” Beach said.
Amanda Heller’s middle and high school special education class also stopped in Surrena’s class Tuesday to paint parts of the mural.
“Franklin is going to be so happy to see (the mural),” one of Heller’s senior students said.
