Franklin School Board OKs personnel, policy matters

At the Franklin School Board’s combined work and business meeting, numerous personnel and policy updates were approved, including several new and revised policies on home education, student discipline, and public records. Notably, policy 137 now allows parents to submit an unsworn declaration instead of a notarized affidavit for home education programs. Concerns were raised by board member Randy Stachelrodt about the controlled substances policy and by Garrett Lowman about the grade retention policy in the elementary student handbook. The board also discussed Title IX policy updates and appointed new Title IX coordinators. Additionally, several employment contracts were approved, including new hires and resignations. The board considered consolidating its committees and approved a partnership with Special Olympics Pennsylvania.
