Franklin robotics team preparing for competition this weekend

Franklin High School students Aiden Groves, David Bookwalter and Jewel McCarty work on building their team’s robot for this weekend’s BEST Robotics competition at Grove City College.

The Franklin Area STEM (F.A.S.T.) Team is gearing up for the 2024 BEST Robotics competition at Grove City College, themed “Low G,” where robots must complete various lunar tasks. The F.A.S.T. team, made up of 34 Franklin High School students, is divided into engineering and marketing groups. The engineering team, led by senior David Bookwalter, designs and builds the robot, ensuring it can perform tasks like collecting moon rocks and repairing a radio antenna. The marketing group, headed by junior Cadence Ashbaugh, promotes the team through outreach, social media, and presentations. The competition, open to the public, will take place this Saturday at Grove City College.
