People who are planning international travel can apply for a passport through the U.S. Postal Service via its retail customer appointment scheduler that can be found at www.usps.com/scheduler.
In addition, the Franklin post office will hold a passport fair to help people obtain passports. The event is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the post office at 1202 Elk St.
Those who plan to attend the passport fair should take a completed DS-11 application for a U.S. passport form, which can be found at www.travel.state.gov. The form should not be signed.
— Proof of U.S. citizenship
— Proof of identity (valid driver’s license, government employee ID, military ID)
— Appropriate payment. Debit and credit cards will be accepted. Acceptable forms of payment can be found on the Department of State website.
— Appropriate passport photo
Passport applications for children under 16 have special requirements, which are outlined at www.travel.state.gov.
