Franklin police arrested two people after investigating an alleged motor vehicle theft.
Kathleen Gagliotti, 23, and Cole Borgia, 31, both of Franklin, were arrested on an array of charges stemming from false reports to police, drug violations and forgery.
Franklin police received a complaint of a car theft Dec. 11, and during the investigation discovered that Gagliotti and Borgia had conspired to steal and forge a blank check the day previous.
They cashed the check for $70 while Gagliotti let another person use her vehicle for the night.
At approximately 4 a.m. the vehicle was wrecked and Gagliotti was notified of her vehicle’s condition, for which she attempted to extort money and controlled substances as payment. The other party refused to make payment and Gagliotti then falsely implicated another person in the theft of her vehicle.
Gagliotti was arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including counts of identity theft, drug act violations, forgery, criminal use of a communication facility, theft by extortion, two counts of false reports to law enforcement, theft and unsworn falsification to authorities.
Borgia was arrested and charged with counts of identity theft, drug act violations, forgery and criminal use of a communication facility.
Both Borgia and Gagliotti were arraigned and placed in Venango County jail. Gagliotti’s bail was set at $15,000 while Borgia’s was denied.
