Franklin panel gets funds for water projects

From staff reports

The Franklin General Authority has received nearly $1 million in state grant money as part of a massive investment in water infrastructure projects announced Wednesday by Gov. Tom Wolf’s office.

The $914,602 Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) grant will be used by the general authority to replace about 4,400 feet of lead pipes, joints and service laterals in the city.
The project will eliminate lead exposure in the city’s water supply.

Wolf’s office said the state has awarded $117 million in PENNVEST grants to improve drinking and wastewater facilities across Pennsylvania.
