PITTSBURGH – Franklin native Madeline L. Gent has been named the executive director of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. The choice was made after a search and selection process conducted by the organization’s board of directors.
Gent has varied experience in museums, galleries, universities and nonprofit organizations that will serve the organization well. Gent has returned to western Pennsylvania after more than 10 years in the Washington, D.C., area.
Her experience spans her work as a curator, instructor and lecturer, manager, and registrar.
Gent has held positions at the Smithsonian, the University of Maryland Art Gallery, the Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture and at Washington and Lee University. Gent has served as a visiting lecturer at Johns Hopkins University Department of the History of Art in Baltimore.
Gent is a Ph.D. candidate in art history and archaeology at the University of Maryland. She has an master’s degree in art history and archaeology from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in art history and east Asian literature and languages from Washington and Lee University.
Gent plans to relocate to Pittsburgh and begin her work as executive director on Monday, Dec. 4.
