A Franklin man is facing burglary and criminal trespass charges for allegedly breaking into a home early Sunday morning in Frenchcreek Township.

A criminal complaint filed in district judge Matthew Kirtland’s office says Franklin state police arrived at the scene of a burglary on Georgetown Road at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police were told that a 21-year-old Polk man had gotten into a physical altercation with Joseph Fisher, 26, of Franklin, at the Polk man’s residence earlier that day, the complaint said. The man said Fisher was highly intoxicated, the complaint said.

The man said he didn’t call police after the altercation because he thought that he and Fisher had “settled it,” the complaint said.

Fisher left the scene, but he returned about 20 minutes later in a Ford truck, the complaint said. The Polk man and a 21-year old Polk woman locked themselves in a bedroom, and the man grabbed a gun, the complaint said.

The man said he heard a window smash and heard Fisher pounding on the bedroom door yelling for the man to come out and fight, the complaint said. The man said Fisher then left the residence and smashed the bedroom window, the complaint said.

The man said he pointed his revolver out the bedroom window and fired one shot in the ground away from Fisher, the complaint said. The man said Fisher then left in his truck with several other men headed toward Franklin, the complaint said.

Fisher is facing felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass in addition to misdemeanor counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.

He was arraigned before Kirtland and placed in the Venango County jail on $25,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for April 5 in Venango County Central Court.
