The Franklin General Authority has been awarded a $3,182,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s sewer overflow and stormwater reuse municipal grant program.
The EPA said the money will help fund the upcoming A-108 combined sewer overflow remediation project, which will rehabilitate or replace 55,000 feet of the combined sanitary sewer system in the City of Franklin, separating the stormwater and sanitary sewer systems.
The project will include PVC gravity sewer, concrete manholes, laterals and appurtenances, and is intended to remedy sewage overflow from a manhole into French Creek.
The City of Franklin is considered a disadvantaged community as defined in the clean water state revolving fund intended use plan, according to the EPA.
