Franklin police were dispatched to an incident at about 3 a.m. Thursday at 1140 Buffalo St. for a report of a man on a fire escape trying to break through a window.
Police said that when they arrived, Brent Tomas Eichholtz, 34, of Franklin was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was sitting on the front porch of the residence.
Eichholtz said he lived in an apartment at the address but was in an argument and physical altercation with his girlfriend and was locked out of the apartment, police said.
Police said Eichholtz was asked to leave after the argument, and upon his return he was locked out of the apartment and tried to break in. He caused a disturbance by breaking a window and hurting himself, police said.
Eichholtz is being charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
