Franklin Civic Operetta celebrates 65 years with dinner theatre show

The Franklin Civic Operetta Association celebrated its 65th anniversary with a dinner theatre event titled “A Taste of ‘70s Musicals — Dinner & a Show” at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin. The event featured songs from notable musicals like “Godspell,” “Pippin,” “Company,” and “A Chorus Line.” Directed by Beth West with music direction by Steve Luxbacher and choreography by Silvia Cagle and Chelsea Armstrong, the celebration included a special appearance by Niki Harris, a former Broadway performer. The association, founded in 1959 to promote music and drama, has evolved from an outdoor stage on a cement slab to its current home at the Barrow. The anniversary event highlighted the organization’s history and its ongoing impact on the Franklin cultural scene.
