A prominent storefront in downtown Franklin will soon be the new home of the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber purchased the building at 1255 Liberty St., formerly occupied by the Liberty Galleria, from Franklin Moving Forward, Inc. last week.
Chamber board president Adam Guthrie announced the purchase at the Chamber’s 104th annual celebration last week.
“We are very excited to be moving our office back into the heart of the downtown business district in Franklin,” Guthrie said.
Renovations to the interior of the building are expected to be completed this summer.
Among the plans for the new building is the introduction of a digital display in the window – a virtual calendar of events – which can be seen by visitors at any time of the day or evening.
The new office will also include an expanded visitor center.
Joining the chamber on the ground floor of the building will be Myers Custom Woodworks, which will host a showroom, and One of A Kind Design. The second floor will continue to be occupied by Myrtle Lodge 316.
The first floor of the building has been vacant since the Liberty Galleria closed its doors in January 2016.
The chamber sold its current office at 1327 Liberty and its property at 1259 Liberty last August, which was part of the chamber’s strategic plan created in 2016.
