Franklin board approves items related to start of school year

The Franklin School Board approved several key items for the 2024-25 school year, including revisions to student handbooks and funding for a preschool program in partnership with Keystone SMILES. The board also renewed its contract with the Warren County School District Virtual Academy and approved substantial financial expenditures, including payments for gym painting, roof replacement, and the installation of emergency response systems in elementary schools. The meeting saw some tension over the handling of agenda items, particularly regarding the dissolution of board committees, which passed by a narrow vote. Additionally, several employment contracts, service agreements, and policy readings were approved. The district reported a successful first day of school.
