Franklin approves CDBG application; future dog park discussed

Franklin’s city council approved the 2024 Community Development Block Grant application, directing $209,805 to street improvements in low-income areas and $41,975 for blight clearance, expected to impact one or two properties. The council also discussed the Franklin Rotary Club’s request for support on a grant to fund a dog park. City officials, however, prioritized other park projects for the grant, noting a lower resident demand for a dog park. Additionally, Franklin received a $600,000 grant for remediation of the defunct Third Street reservoir, though the amount fell short of the $1 million initially requested.
