Found skeletal remains still being analyzed

Officials are still investigating skeletal remains that were found last month in Cornplanter Township.

The remains are continuing to be analyzed by Dr. Dennis Dirkmaat of Mercyhurst University in Erie, Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh told the newspaper Wednesday.

The remains were found by a hunter hanging trail cameras in a wooded area in Cornplanter Township near Colonial Village on Sept. 2, Franklin state police said.

Most of the skeleton was present, Rugh said at that time.

Police said the matter remains under investigation.
