Forest teacher Wortman to receive award from Penn State

John G. Wortman, a social science and gifted support teacher at West Forest High School, has been honored with Penn State University’s 2024 Outstanding Teaching Award for his exceptional teaching methods, subject expertise, and ability to inspire students. Nominated by Forest Area School District Superintendent Amanda E. Hetrick, Wortman teaches a variety of subjects for grades 7-12, leads summer programs, coaches varsity golf, directs the drama club, and co-advises an immersive learning program. A 2015 and 2020 graduate of Penn State’s College of Education, he also serves as chair of the curriculum, instruction, and technology committee on the Warren County School Board.
