Forest students compete in sign language challenge

West Forest students practice the sign for stop as part of the sign language challenge event that was recently held for Forest Area School District students. Students from East and West Forest schools participated in “The 12 Signs of Christmas,” a sign language challenge organized by speech pathologist LeEllen Gibbons to promote awareness of American Sign Language. Teams learned 12 signs, competed in a judged event, and celebrated with prizes for winning teams: Chris Pappas’s “Nerds from Third” at East Forest and Lisa Schmidt’s third-grade class at West Forest. The next challenge is titled “Hippity Hoppity Hands.”
