HARRISBURG (AP) – The governor of Pennsylvania has ordered all United States and commonwealth flags in the state Capitol complex and at all commonwealth facilities in Delaware County to fly at half-staff to honor a Pennsylvania-born police officer killed in Maryland.
Prince George’s County officer Jacai Colson was shot and killed Sunday outside his station in the Washington suburb of Landover.
Authorities say the suspect wanted to die in a gun battle with officers.
Gov. Tom Wolf said he wanted to honor the 28-year-old officer’s “ultimate sacrifice … to protect his community.”
Colson graduated from Chichester High School in Boothwyn, Delaware County. Flags will remain at half-staff until interment.
