Fire destroys home in Cornplanter Township

No one was injured but a house was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning on Route 227 in Cornplanter Township.

The fire broke out at about 4:50 a.m. Monday, according to Cornplanter fire chief Ben Schwab.

Venango County 911 said the location of the blaze was 1461 State Route 227.

Schwab said the fire entered the first and second floors of the residence and was contained to the back side of the structure.

The origin of the fire has been ruled as undetermined by a state police fire marshal.

The house was a total loss, and the scene was cleared at about 8:05 a.m., according to Schwab.

Route 227 was closed for a period of time, 911 said.

Rouseville, Reno, Rocky Grove, Pleasantville, Seneca, Pinegrove and Cherrytree volunteer firefighters, as well as Community Ambulance Service, also responded, according to Schwab.

Rockland and President firefighters were on standby.
