From staff reports
Venango Fatherhood Initiative’s Family Fishing Day was held Saturday, Aug. 18 at Two Mile Run County Park. More than 70 people attended.
The event addresses VFI’s mission of increasing the number of children growing up with involved, responsible, and dedicated fathers. Venango Fatherhood Initiative is a program of Family Service & Children’s Aid Society of Venango County.
Fishing event winners for the largest fish were Jenna Hale, in 1st place with a 13-inch bass, and Elijah Galan-Stroup, in 2nd place with a 12 1/2-inch bass.
VFI’s next event is the 24/7 Dad & Family Groups, which start Monday, Sept. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Carone Center, 29 Pearl Ave. in Oil City. Groups meet every Monday for 8 weeks, except for select holidays. There are separate groups available for women and children. Women’s groups discuss topics related to the 24/7 Dad Program and other issues specific to mothering and mother/father interactions.
