An Oil City man who failed to return to the Venango County jail Monday after going out for a job interview is now in custody.
Kurtis Urey, 25, contacted Franklin state police Tuesday and requested that they pick him up at the Rouseville Store, according to a press release issued by the Franklin Police Department.
Franklin police faxed the warrant for escape to state police, who picked up Urey and met patrolman Melissa Edwards at district judge Matthew Kirtland’s office, police said.
Urey was arraigned before Kirtland and his bail was denied.
He was placed in the Venango County jail and will now await a preliminary hearing, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday in Central Court.
