Early morning car chase leaves Franklin man facing charges

Todd Shoffstall, 52, is facing multiple charges after leading police on a car chase early Wednesday morning in Franklin, Pennsylvania. The incident began when state troopers attempted to stop Shoffstall for erratic driving on Route 8, but he refused to pull over and continued to evade officers. Police tried to stop his vehicle using a PIT maneuver twice, but Shoffstall managed to escape until his car veered into a ditch after a third attempt. Shoffstall and a passenger were arrested at gunpoint, and officers found hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana in the vehicle. He faces charges including fleeing from police, reckless driving, and drug possession. Shoffstall is currently in jail after being unable to post bail, with a preliminary hearing set for next week.
