Dinosaurs descended on Smedley Street Elementary School in Oil City on Thursday as part of the school’s theme week to round out what Smedley Principal Anne Curran called “a fun week; a nice way to wrap up a pretty different year.” The school treated students to a tropical day on Tuesday, a camping day – complete with tents to read in – on Wednesday, and “Oiler Spirit” is the theme today. Teachers were excited to dress up for students, said Curran, as “we have quite a few dinosaur enthusiasts here at Smedley.” To complement the actual (sort of) dinosaurs showing up, students completed some dinosaur lessons in their classrooms and made dinosaur headbands, Curran said. “The students really loved it, and the teachers had a lot of fun brightening their students’ days,” she said.
