DHS clarified that they never send deactivation alerts via text and that such messages requesting personal information are scams. Suspicious texts or calls can be reported to the DHS fraud tip line at 1-844-347-8477. Official DHS communications are sent only from 1-833-648-1964, and legitimate links will end in .gov or .org. For questions about communications, recipients should contact DHS’s Office of Income Maintenance.
