More details have emerged on four people who were arrested on drug charges last week in Clarion.
According to a criminal complaint filed in District Judge Duane Quinn’s office, Sligo residents Matthew I. Goodman, 37; Michelle E. Goodman, 38; Jaimie L. Kifer, 31; and Clarion resident Heidi N. Switzer, 38, were taken into custody after the vehicle they were traveling in was stopped by Clarion police on North Fifth Avenue on March 3 at about 12:40 p.m.
Police saw two pieces of aluminum foil wrapped around what appeared to be coffee filters in plain view inside the car, the complaint said. Police alleged these items to be used to package methamphetamine.
According to the complaint, Switzer, who was identified as the driver, gave consent to search the car, where police found multiple loose and crushed pills in a plastic bag, 11 coffee filters with methamphetamine packaged for delivery, seven coffee filters with methamphetamine residue, a smoking device, two straws and two folds of aluminum foil with burnt residue.
State police in Clarion and a drug recognition expert alleged Switzer was under the influence of a controlled substance, the complaint said.
Switzer failed field sobriety tests, gave consent to a blood test and admitted to using methamphetamine within 24 hours, the complaint said.
Matthew Goodman and Michelle Goodman each was charged with a felony count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, in addition to misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of hindering apprehension by harboring and providing aid to a prosecutor.
Each was arraigned and placed in Clarion County jail on $15,000 bail. Their preliminary hearings in the case are tentatively set for Tuesday in front of Quinn.
