Cranberry Township applies for project grants

Cranberry Township supervisors have applied for funding that would help a bridge project and two township parks.

Township manager Eric Heil said at Thursday’s supervisors meeting the township applied for Community Development Block Grant money for two projects.

The first was for $23,000 for housing rehab projects and the second was for $81,000 for the repair of the Meadow Church Road Bridge.

A mandatory survey showed that the area that is served qualifies as low to moderate income.

Heil said township residents may apply for a housing assistance grant through the Venango County Regional Planning Commission if they meet the income guidelines to have housing rehab done on their primary residence.

Heil said the township applied for a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant for additional or leftover funding.

“The parks and recreation committee has been working on revitalization projects for Morrison and Moody parks,” said Heil. “The money for Moody Park would be used to resurface the basketball and tennis courts.”
