Cranberry to receive $500,000 for school access project

From staff reports

Cranberry Area School District will receive $500,000 in funding from the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program.

The money will be used to improve access to the Cranberry High School campus on Route 257.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the financial request on Friday.

The project includes realigning how to get to the Cranberry campus from Route 257, reconstructing Education Drive to Big Egypt Road, and building a pedestrian walkway to use to get to facilities on campus.

“When students are coming to school, it can become a hassle just to get to class on time,” said state Rep. R. Lee James said. “This critical project will alleviate these issues and improve everyone’s lives.”

The total project cost is $2.165 million.
