Cranberry High School seniors are getting a lesson in the local economy by using The Derrick’s Business Review and Forecast edition.

The students in Heather Motter’s senior English classes have been busy learning about the businesses and events in the community.

“Through scavenger hunts and group presentations, the students have developed a greater appreciation for Venango County,” Motter said.

She added that since many of the students are completing the VenangoReady program through the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, and she felt it was necessary to increase awareness of local opportunities.

One of the scavenger hunts included 37 questions based on three sections of the Business Review and Forecast.

Students were asked questions such as “What two students completed internships at Franklin Bronze in 2021?”, “What piece of equipment did Seneca Printing purchase from Switzerland?” and “What design company located in the National Transit Building specializes in restoring old homes and buildings?”

One of the students, Apryl Vassell, is new to the area. She said she enjoyed learning about what the area has to offer.

Students finished presentations on the project Tuesday.
