On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Cranberry High School’s boys basketball team was playing Venango Catholic High School on what proved to be a monumental night for Cranberry’s varsity coach.

The school’s very own Patrick Irwin got his 100th win with the boys basketball team.

Irwin has been Cranberry’s varsity boys basketball coach for 10 years. Prior to that, he was the junior varsity coach for 3 years. He was the junior high coach at both Kane School District and Butler School District for one year each.

When interviewing Irwin about his 100th win, that he didn’t even know he achieved, he said, “This is a testament of the hard work kids have put in.”

Irwin enjoys coaching very much, the most enjoyable part being working with the kids. He believes, “Good athletes, good people.”

When asked about some of his most memorable games, Irwin said that one of his most unforgettable moments was in the 2014-2015 season when the boys basketball team beat Clarion-Limestone, breaking up their winning streak.

Congratulations Coach Irwin on your 100th win!
