Local anglers do not have much longer to wait before trout season kicks off.
Youth under the age of 16 can join an adult mentor, who has a current fishing license, and trout permit to fish on April 9 as part of the Fish and Boat Commission’s statewide Mentored Youth Trout Day.
All other fishermen can take part the following week, beginning April 16, for the opening day of trout season in Pennsylvania.
To pass the time until then, Venango County anglers can take part in the following stocking events from the Corry hatchery.
n Today: Brook and brown trout at East Sandy Creek; Meet at 10 a.m. at Route 322 pull off, which is on the left just before the creek.
n Tuesday: Brook and brown trout at Pithole Creek; Meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Pleasantville fire hall parking lot.
n Tuesday: Brook and rainbow trout at Pithole Creek; Meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Pleasantville fire hall parking lot.
n Tuesday: Brook and brown trout at West Pithole Creek; Meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Plesantville fire hall parking lot.
n Monday, April 4: Brown and rainbow trout at Oil Creek; Meet at 10 a.m. at Rynd Farm at Oil City and Titusville Railroad Station.
n Tuesday, April 5: Rainbow trout at Two Mile Run reservoir – Justus Lake; Meet at 10:15 a.m. on Two Mile Run County Park launch.
n Wednesday, April 6: Brook and brown trout at Little Scrubgrass Creek; Meet at 10:30 a.m. at Cranberry Mall.
n Wednesday, April 6: Brown and rainbow trout at Mill Creek; Meet at 10:30 a.m. at Cranberry Mall.
n Wednesday, April 6: Brown and rainbow trout at Pine Run; Meet at 10:30 a.m. at Cranberry Mall.
