Core Goods’ expansion has community space in mind

Core Goods owner Ashley Sheffer posts a sign to make the public aware of the community space that the business will offer.

Core Goods, a store in Oil City, is expanding to the neighboring building two years after relocating to East First Street. Owner Ashley Sheffer envisions the new space as a community hub for educational events, such as cooking classes and skills workshops, and for private rentals. Sheffer received a $10,000 grant from Main Street America and American Express, which helped fund the renovations, with local businesses providing materials. An open house is set for September 29. Sheffer is also seeking an additional $30,000 grant to upgrade the kitchen, aiming to create a shared-use space for other local businesses.
