CLA students raise nearly $14,000 for ultrasounds

From staff reports

Christian Life Academy high school students raised money for a program that will benefit people outside their school, and they succeeded beyond their expectations.

The 22 students raised $13,665, enough to pay for about 488 ultrasounds through Pre-Born, a national Christian organization that partners with clinics to provide ultrasounds to expectant mothers.

“It started with the ninth and tenth graders but all the high school pitched in and talked to people,” said teacher Jan Weaver, who was directing the students’ fundraising efforts, said.

Weaver said the students didn’t have a target set for how much money they were trying to raise, and the amount they did raise astounded them.

“Nobody imagined it. God has blessed us,” Weaver said.

Weaver said Pre-Born is one of the largest providers of ultrasounds and partners with clinics throughout the country.

“80% of the time when mothers see their ultrasound they choose to keep their babies,” Weaver said.
