Catholic Foundation awards grant to St. Joseph Parish

From staff reports

New programming at St. Joseph Parish in Oil City will be developed this year through a $2,000 grant from the Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania.

The money will cover the expense of a speaker from a national Catholic organization, St. Paul Street Evangelization, to provide training and resources to a group of Saint Joseph parishioners for outreach programming.

Daria Sockey, the parish formation coordinator at St. Joseph, applied for the grant and is enthusiastic about the funding.

“This financial support from the Catholic Foundation enables us to take on this new effort for our parish,” she said. “We are grateful for this opportunity.”

The grant from the Catholic Foundation is possible because of donations to the foundation’s education endowment.

“Endowments help to ensure the future of our Catholic faith in northwest Pennsylvania,” said Lisa Louis, executive director of the foundation. “This is a great example of how the generosity of donors can make a lasting impact,” Louis added.
