Caring Place unveils new name for personal care home

From staff reports

The Caring Place in Franklin held an open house and ribbon-cutting last week to formally unveil the new name for the facility’s personal care unit, now called The Purple Iris.

The event, organized in partnership with the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, featured refreshments and personal tours of the facility.

“For many years, The Caring Place has operated a skilled nursing facility, but many people were not aware of our personal care unit and everything it has to offer,” said Lynnie Burkhardt, The Purple Iris administrator.

Burkhardt said the name The Purple Iris and the facility’s theme “Where Personal Care is Personal” were “developed and voted on by staff to highlight this offering to Franklin-area seniors and their families.”

Several local elected officials, including Franklin mayor Douglas Baker, State Rep. R. Lee James and Venango County commissioners Sam Breene, Mike Dulaney and Albert Abramovic attended last week’s event.
