Candidates win nominations in Venango municipalities

From staff reports

Several candidates for township or borough positions in Venango County were nominated for those posts in contested races during Tuesday’s primary election.

In addition, many other candidates were formally nominated after running unopposed on Tuesday in their municipalities.

And there were no candidates listed on the party ballots for numerous other positions across the county. Write-in candidates who received enough votes will garner some of those nominations after county election workers tally all the votes and make the results official.

The county’s elections board is meeting at 9 a.m. today to canvass the primary votes.

Here is a rundown of some of Tuesday’s unofficial results. Included are a couple of positions in Oil City; mayor, council, and tax collector posts in boroughs; and supervisor and tax collector positions in townships.

Results that are not listed here were previously published in Wednesday’s newspaper. Vote totals published Wednesday have changed due to the addition of mail-in numbers, but the revised totals did not change who earned the nominations.
