Blood drives to be held Friday

From staff reports

Community Blood Drive is asking people in the Franklin area to roll up their sleeves this week as it is in critical need for types O- and O+ blood.

The blood bank is running on less than a one-day supply of blood.

There are two mobile drives on Friday in Franklin.

Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, located at 44 Circle St., will collect blood from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Franklin Community Medicine, located at 464 Allegheny Blvd., will collect blood from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Anyone interested in donating blood may call (716) 450-0376 to schedule an appointment.

Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows.

Donating blood takes between 30 and 45 minutes. In that time, donors fill out some paperwork, complete a short health screening, donate blood, and have a post-donation snack. Each donation can help save up to three lives of people.
