A bicycle rodeo will be held Thursday, June 30, in Franklin to help children learn bicycle skills and safety tips.
The free event is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Venango County sheriff’s office, the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Franklin.
It will be held at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church parking lot, located at 1200 Otter St.
Registration for the event will start at 6 p.m., and activities will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Children between the ages 5 to 10 are eligible to participate. They will be divided into two groups, ages 5 to 7 and ages 8 to 10, and will compete in various skill and safety tests.
A free bike will be awarded to one child in each age group, compliments of the Venango Chapter of Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education.
Children who participate should take a bike and a helmet to the event. A limited number of helmets will be available for free on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, a parent or guardian must be present to sign a permission slip for their child to participate.
