The Venango County Relay For life is planning two events to generate awareness of the mission to end cancer.
A kickoff event, Paint the County Purple, will be held April 29 at the Cranberry Mall.
Relay teams can set up booths to provide information and gather donations from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Connie Schull, the event’s chairperson, said there also will be other vendors set up.
The organization will host another sweet event.
The second annual Chocolate Frolic also aims to raise awareness and money for the relay.
The event will be held at The Franklin on April 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. It will feature chocolates and wines from area vendors.
Venango County Relay For Life, which will last 24 hours, will be held from 4 p.m. June 2 to 4 p.m. June 3 at the Oil City High School track.
This year’s theme centers around board games and is called “In It to Win It.”
Other events will include a luminaria ceremony the night of June 2 and both a military veteran and local firefighter lap around the track.
A luncheon will be held at noon June 3, with registration starting at 11 a.m. Cancer survivors and caregivers will be honored at the luncheon, which will be followed by a survivors lap around the track.
The 2017 countywide goal is to raise $100,000. More than $25,000 has already been donated.
