Wednesday evening will be busy in downtown Oil City as the Oil City Arts Council and ARTS Oil City will present the opening night reception for the Oil Heritage Festival Art Show, and the Oil City Main Street Program’s Music on the Square concert series will continue.
The opening reception for the art show is from 6 to 9 p.m. and will be held simultaneously at all three exhibit locations — the National Transit Building, National Transit Building Annex and 42 Seneca St.
The reception is free and open to the public, and participating artists and the public are encouraged to attend.

Meanwhile, the Music on the Square series will feature a performance by the band Angel Blue & the Prophets from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the center paved area of Town Square.
The band is an edgy rock and blues band from Pittsburgh led by vocalist Angel Blue.
The band also records original music that has received significant airplay.
The next Music on the Square events are Aug. 3 and Sept. 15, and the concerts are free and open to the public.

The Oil City Elks Heritage Festival chicken dinner is also scheduled Wednesday. Walk-ins will be accepted for the dinner.
