Annual campaign for local veterans begins

From staff reports

KNOX – Charitable Deeds and Services is starting its annual campaign for the veterans of the armed forces during March and April, for Venango County veterans, Clarion County veterans, and Forest County veterans.

Since Charitable Deeds and Services started in 2002, they have never turned a veteran away who requested their help. On television, it is stated there are 50,000 homeless vets across the United States. It is sad to know this country has so many homeless vets who fought for this country and for those living here.

The women and men in the armed services deserve respect and admiration, but many need help as well. During the months of March and April Charitable Deeds and Services will sell raffle tickets at the Clarion Mall. The money raised from selling the tickets will go towards benefiting the veterans of the armed forces.

Then on March 19, Charitable Deeds and Services will be have a spaghetti dinner to raise money to help veterans. This “all-you-can-eat” spaghetti dinner will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wolfs Den in Knox.

They are making an appeal to all businesses, organizations, and general public, to send donations for this veteran’s fundraiser to Charitable Deeds and Services, 98 Hickory Nut Lane, Knox Pa. 16232. For those sending money to Charitable Deed and Services for this campaign, please mark in the memo at the bottom of the check “veterans.”

All donations and proceeds from these two events will go to help the veterans.

Charitable Deeds and Services have no expenses, no administration fees and no salaried workers. All the volunteers at Charitable Deeds and Services give of their time, talent, and money. They do this for the love of God and the love of neighbor. Besides helping the veterans monetarily to pay their bills, they also help them with food, clothing, furniture, and appliances from what they have in stock.
