All warm and fuzzy

Precious Paws Animal Rescue is working to make a few dogs a little warmer this winter. Tri-County Animal Rescue has an event and a spay and neuter clinic planned. Clarion PAWS, the Venango County Humane Society and Safehaven Small Breed Rescue have a lot of fuzzy faces looking for ‘furrever’ homes.

Operation Warm Doggy is Saturday

Precious Paws Animal Rescue’s Operation Warm Doggy will get underway from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at its SNYP building at 720 Atlantic Ave., Franklin.

Precious Paws Animal Rescue volunteers participated in an Operation Warm Doggy event in January 2016 which was held at the Oil City Agway. The rescue will hold its Operation Warm Doggy from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at its SNYP building at 720 720 Atlantic Ave., Franklin. “We did this operation warm doggy at Oil City Agway. We are now able to do them at our facility at 720 Atlantic Ave.,” said Theresa Weldon of Precious Paws.

The rescue will be giving away straw to fill people’s dog houses and feral cat shelters. Those interested in straw should take a trash bag to take it home in. People will also be able to sign up for feral cat shelters and dog houses as part of the operation. The rescue has pet food available as well.

The group is also holding a yard sale at the SNYP building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Operation Warm Doggy and the sale will be held rain or shine.

Meanwhile, the photos are up for the rescues Halloween pet photo contest … let the voting begin.

The photos can be viewed by going to the Precious Paws Animal Rescue Facebook page and clicking on the albums or go to www.facebook.com/pg/Precious-Paws-Animal-Rescue.

For a vote to be counted, people need to vote on the PHOTO of the winning dog/cat/other. People may vote for one dog, one cat or one other. If a person votes for more than one of the same category, their vote will not be counted.

Lylah and Daisy

Earlier this week Theresa Weldon posted about cats Lylah and Daisy who are available for adoption.

“My two former feral foster kittens, Lylah and Daisy, would like to say thank you to the kind person who donated this dog bed at the SNYP clinic,” Weldon posted.

Precious Paws is planning a “Howloween” dog party from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at its SNYP Clinic, 720 Atlantic Ave., Franklin.

Those attending should take a donation of cat food for the rescue’s pet food bank.

The three Gs

Galileo and Galilee

Clarion PAWS in Shippenville has Galileo, Galilee and Gamma available for adoption.

Galileo  and Galilee are part of a litter of four kittens that one of our volunteers bottle fed from just a few weeks old, the shelter posted earlier this week on its Facebook page.

“Now a little over three months they are eager and excited to meet their furrever families. They love attention and want nothing more than to sit in your lap, when they aren’t untieing shoes that is,” the shelter posted.

gamma

Gamma

Gamma is the quieter of Galileo and Galilee’s siblings, according to the shelter. “Don’t get us wrong she loves to play with her roommates and all the fun toys but much prefers sitting on your lap and enjoying the company,” the shelter posted.

The shelter mourned the passing Julian.

“It has been a bittersweet two weeks at the PAWS house,” the shelter posted. “We may have lost one of our residents but then we got to see four of our kittens got adopted and find their ‘furrever’ homes – Heather, Emma, Hadley and Ellicia.”

Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric. The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The center is closed Fridays and Sundays.

More information is available online at www.clarionpaws.org, the group’s Facebook page or by calling (814) 229-1231.

Stuck on you

velcro

Velcro

The Venango County Humane Society in Seneca has felines Velcro and Ryder available for adoption.

Velcro, a domestic medium hair, is a 4-year-old spayed female. She’s a black and tan tiger with green eyes and a pink nose. Velcro is curious and takes a lively interest in her surroundings, the shelter said. She had been rooming with Delilah and Brooke, so we know she isn’t bossy and gets along with other cats, the shelter added.

ryder

Ryder

Ryder, a domestic medium hair, is a 7-month-old neutered male. He’s a handsome orange and white cat with green eyes. Ryder is frisky, friendly and unforgettable, according to the shelter. He enjoys the company of people and is eager to please. Ryder will be right at home curled up next to you on the couch or stretching out on a sunlit ledge in your kitchen, the shelter said.

The humane society is open from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. It is located at 286 S. Main St., Seneca. More information on the Venango County Humane Society is available by calling (814) 677-4040 or online at venangocountyhumanesociety.org.

Meanwhile, the Venango County Humane Society’s Halloween Pet Costume photo contest is underway.
There are two categories.

1. Shelter dogs and cats are ones that were adopted from the Venango County Humane Society.

2. All area dogs and cats can enter this contest – no matter where they were rescued or “homed.”

Rules and guidelines are:

Submit a photo of one’s cat or dog in their favorite Halloween costume by Oct. 31.

Only one entry (dog or cat) per family or household.

Entries can be submitted at venangocountyhumanesociety@gmail.com or by taking photos to the shelter. Photos need to include the pet owner’s name, email address and phone number.

Hank needs a new home

hank

Hank

Safehaven Small Breed Rescue is looking for another home for Hank.

The rescue reported that Hank was adopted from the rescue in May 2015. However, Hank found himself dumped at a shelter near Pittsburgh in July of this year, according to Safehaven. The Pittsburgh shelter contacted Safehaven and Hank was returned to the Tionesta rescue.

“The good news for Hank is that he is once again happy and doing very well here. Maybe some day someone will want to include him in their family but we will be VERY careful about who he goes to the next time around,” Safehaven posted on its Facebook page.

“We don’t want a repeat of this situation. Being bounced around is too hard on the dog,” the rescue said.
Interested persons may email safehavensbr@gmail.com for an application.

Safehaven Small Breed Rescue is located at 318 Barber Drive, Tionesta. It can be reached by phone at (814) 463-5004. More information about the rescue is available on its website at

Event and clinic planned

tri

Pet photos will be available for purchase during Tri-County’s event on Saturday.

As Tri-County Animal Rescue in Shippenville gets ready for its Halloween Spooktacular Event on Saturday, the shelter is also looking to fill spots for its last spay and neuter clinic of the year on Nov. 10.

The rescue’s annual Halloween Spooktacular Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply in Clarion.

The event includes fall photos of kids or pets available for purchase for $5 per CD. It also will feature raffles, a bake sale and face painting by Delta Phi Epsilon of Clarion University. Proceeds benefit the rescue.

Tri-County’s last spay and neuter is Nov. 10. The spay and neuter surgeries are done though Allegheny Spay/Neuter Clinic in Woodland, Clearfield County.

The costs are:

CATS – males are $55 and females are $65

DOGS – males are $95 and females are $105

The rabies vaccine is included with all surgeries and pain medication is provided or a long lasting injection is given.  Additional vaccines are available at a nominal additional cost.

On the day of the clinic, at 6 a.m., people’s pets must be brought to Tri-County Animal Rescue Center, 9562 Route 322 in Shippenville or pets may be transported directly to Allegheny Spay/Neuter if that is closer or more convenient.  They are then transported to the clinic, have surgery and arrive back at Tri-County rescue center at approximately 2 or 3 p.m. to be picked up.

All cats are required to be in a sturdy carrier.  Dogs must be in a crate/carrier or on a solid collar and leash – they will be put in a crate on the van for transport.

The rescue can send unlimited male cats, but all others are limited in numbers that may be sent.  People must send their payment along with their application.  Slots are filled in order of paid applications received.

The application link is available at tricounty-arc.org.

More information about Tri-County Animal Rescue Center is available on its Facebook page, or by calling (814) 918-2032 or emailing contactus@Tricounty-arc.org.
