All four lanes of Route 8 reopened

From staff reports

All four lanes of Route 8 between Reno and Oil City were reopened by Friday afternoon, according to PennDOT.

PennDOT press officer Jill Harry said both northbound lanes were reopened Thursday and the southbound lanes were reopened Friday afternoon.

The painting of new pavement markings and lines is scheduled next week, Harry said.

PennDOT began work on the project in late June to rebuild more than 500 feet of the Route 62/Route 8 (Allegheny Boulevard) retaining wall that runs between the northbound lanes and the Allegheny River. The project also included roadway reconstruction.

The project was scheduled for completion in October but was extended due to additional paving.

The work included the removal and reconstruction of 540 feet of the southern end of the retaining wall.

The contract cost was $3,643,567, which is to be paid with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.

The contractor was Francis J. Palo, of Clarion.
